Burnout is a prevalent issue in health systems. For example, nearly 50% of health systems’ pharmacists in Lebanon, U.S. military health system’s staff, and nurses in Uganda reported feeling burned out. Approximately 31% of Canadian physicians in rural areas reported burnout symptoms. The phenomenon was exacerbated during the COVID-19 pandemic. Out of approximately 19,000 nurses in various studies, over 60% suffered from at least one symptom of burnout from January 2020 to November 2020. Furthermore, approximately 50% of intensivists suffered from burnout between April 2020 and May 2020.
