Balance is defined as the process that maintains the center of gravity within the body’s support base and requires constant adjustments that are provided by muscular activity and joint positioning. Balance is the state of having all the forces operating on the body balanced, so that the center of mass is within the stability limit, or the boundaries of the base of support (BOS).
Postural control, also termed as balance, it is the capacity to maintain a stable base of support with minimum movement. The balance in the human body is frequently classified as static and dynamic. Static balance is the ability to retain the body in a stable position while maintaining posture stability (e.g. squats, two-leg stance and one-leg stance), and dynamic balance is defined as maintaining postural equilibrium as other body components move (e.g. jogging end to end, sideways walking or running with crossovers, forward walking or running).
