The Concept of Resilience is Widely Discussed in Disaster and Crisis Management Literatures : A Part from the Book Chapter : Organizational Resilience, Innovation and Firm Performance in Hospitality Industry in Ghana: Moderating Roles of Social Ties

Chaotic business environments

Increasingly chaotic business environments of today demand organizations to be more resilient. While the concept of resilience is widely discussed in disaster and crisis management literatures, the literature on organizational resilience is developing disjointedly in organizational studies. The concept of organizational resilience has gained significant attention in the academic literature and business community due to its potential to help organizations adapt and respond to various disruptions. In the African context, where businesses often face unique challenges such as political instability, economic volatility, and resource constraints, organizational resilience is particularly important for promoting business survival and sustainability.

Simultaneously, innovation performance and firm performance are critical factors determining the success of African businesses. Innovation performance is particularly important in a rapidly changing business environment, where the ability to develop new products, services, and processes can give businesses a competitive edge. Firm performance, on the other hand, is a broad measure of a business’s overall success and is often linked to factors such as profitability, growth, and market share.
